Have you ever been to a shop and thought “I could live here”? When I walked into Beetles and Huxley near Piccadilly Circus that was exactly how I felt. As per usual it was fairly Sunny outside but it was also fairly bitter and windy. Urgh. So when I opened the door to the gallery the warmth invited me in like a familiar friend.

This particular exhibit interested me because of MEYEROWITZ’s use of medium format cameras and his exciting colour. Cape Light did not disappoint. I think I was in this shop for over an hour starring at the prints both close-up and from afar.

The beauty of living in London is the ability to stumble on to new things and new people. Surprisingly I had not heard of JOEL MEYEROWITZ before, in fact that was the first time that I had been to this gallery even.

Walking around this gallery there is a distinct ease, like a breeze you can mosey around and take your time without being usher-ed on or questions or to have glances darted at you from across the room because you’re not buying. Beetles and Huxley made me feel like I was at home and I could really enjoy the artwork in peace.

Unfortunately this exhibition is no longer on .. however I do suggest you check out his work and definitely make your way to Beetles and Huxley.
