The Deceased Pentax 67

I'm not sure how long it is that I have been lusting over buying a Pentax 6x7, it could be months, it could be a year, all I knew was that I wanted my hands on one. When I finally managed to track down a reasonably priced one form Japan, excitement took over and I nearly knocked out the postman with adrenalin when I saw him walking up to my door with two brown packages. I would like to note early on that the operative word here is 'reasonably'. Everything comes with a price.

As soon as my metal beast was unwrapped I headed out to the photography shop (Luton Camera Repairs) to get it checked out and put a roll of film in. The only camera I currently shoot on that requires 120mm film is my Holga and I haven's (regrettably) shot on that for a while, hence why I didn't have any film in. It checked out. It turned out that the top hinge was broken.

If you have had the pleasure of shooting on a P67 then you'll know that there are two hinges attached to the side of the camera, so while one had broke, the door was still in tact and could still be used....carefully that is. I whacked a roll in there and went shooting anyway.

These are the results from that shoot. The colour is really off, but I am incredibly happy with how they turned out. I used an app called LUX for my external light meter and all these photos were hand held which if you do not know me is a BIG DEAL. I am tiny. I weigh like 8 stone and I'm pretty sure the camera weighs about 2 stone so thats alot of metal to be lugging around all day!

Unfortunately when I took the camera in to be fixed I was told that it needs a whole new back. So I have had to put the camera up for adoption and am still on the quest to conquor medium format film photography.
